BEAUTY – Enjoy softer more supple skin after a PCA Medi-Facial from Giorgia Ratta’s aesthetic clinic
At Giorgia Ratta’s aesthetics clinic in Knightsbridge, I was invited to experience a Medi-Facial from PCA. The process consists 3 main procedures. First is a deep cleanse, using PCA Skin’s Creamy Cleanser. Incidently, after these treatments, a decent sized sample kit of this cleanser, PCA Skin collagen hydrator and sunscreen is given as a continuation of the treatment for at least a week. I will discuss these products later. The deep cleanse is followed by a hydrating Therapeutic Papaya Mask, which will help to revitalise the skin. This mask combines a combination of papaya purée and additional fruit extracts from lemon, orange and apple to brighten dull complexions and exfoliate the skin. Green tea, vitamin E and honey are moisturising antioxidants that help to keep the skin soft and hydrated. This mask is appropriate for all skin types and conditions.
The main process is the actual “no peel” Chemical Peel. Traditional chemical peels, by virtue of their name, are designed to peel the top superficial layers of the epidermis with a strong AHA’s, often glycolic acid. This traditional process will stimulate production of the collagen in the skin as it repairs itself from this mild burn of the peel. This can cause alarming reactions such as an actual peeling of the skin and a very inflamed appearance. Thus, one feels very self-conscious for the next few days. In the past I had a very strong glycolic peel, where my face was hanging off for over a week without very desirous results afterwards. However, with the PCA NoPeel Peel, this unsightly side effect is totally mitigated, I experienced a gentle exfoliation without expected visible peeling or downtime with this universal professional peel treatment. It is formulated with a blend of exfoliating acids and calming ingredients, this superficial peel promotes cell turnover and boasts the production of collagen to help prevent the signs of premature ageing whilst helping the reduction of inflammation post-treatment. This efficacious peel treatment is suitable for all Fitzpatricks and skin types, especially sensitive skin, and it helps support barrier function and recovery. I did experience ever so slight redness of the skin for a few hours because I use retinoids, but I can contest that this particular peel does not conflict with the usage of retinols or even stronger retinoids. The redness was very brief and by the next day I looked refreshed and skin tone was normalised.
The final stages of treatment was the application of the Rebalance moisturiser and a SPF 50 sunscreen (remember it is crucial to always wear a SPF 50 especially after any exfoliation treatment, albeit ever so gentle).
As I intimated earlier, I was given a continuation sample bag with the Cleanser, collagen moisturiser and SPF 50 sunscreen. My verdict of both the treatment and products after 2 weeks is this, I think it’s simply excellent. The softness, texture and elasticity of my skin as been greatly enhanced, it feel less crape and thin, and definitely more plump. I particularity love the cleanser, I struggle to fine a cleanser that can sufficiently clean my skin but without stripping it and drying it out. This cleanse immaculately cleans my skin leaving it feeling fresh and supple, even before applying the collagen hydrator. Then I apply the collagen hydrator which is very lushest and can be used sparingly. I have to confess that since using these products and consequently since the facial my skin is so improved, as if the elastin itself has been regenerated. It feels and looks more youthful. It just feels marvellously plump. I have avoided chemical peels since my bad experience many years ago, but this is a revolutionary procedure in both treatment and results. I was beginning to acquiesce to ageing, but this is another weapon in my war on the signs of ageing. I cant wait for future facials with PCA skin!
