Drawing on almost a century of cooking expertise, Good Housekeeping is delighted to open the doors of its eagerly awaited GHI Cookery School, in time for the greatest feast of the year, Christmas.

Whether budding cooks want to get into the Christmas spirit and fill their home with the aroma of fresh baked treats, gain confidence in roasting turkey and all the trimmings or learn how to make delicious edible gifts, there will be a wide collection of inspiring and engaging cookery courses commencing on 17 November.

Developed from the Good Housekeeping Institute’s famous Triple-Tested recipes, a team of expert GHI chefs and culinary stars will teach consumers all the tips, tricks and tools required to create an unforgettably delicious meal.

Daily courses of up to 8 people run in the morning and afternoon and start at £90 for a short 3 hour class or £180 for a long 5 hour class. GHI gift vouchers are also available and bespoke private sessions can be arranged on request. To book simply visit

With November and December courses specifically tailored to give invaluable tips and advice on how to add that extra sparkle to a heart-warming Christmas, current classes include:

Festive Baking

Whether cooking for family, friends or just for fun, learning how to make an assortment of beautiful seasonal bakes are guaranteed to bring good cheer. GH Triple-Tested Recipes: Spiced Fruit and Nut Cantucci, White Chocolate and Raspberry Meringue Roulade and Mincemeat Bakewell Tart.

Turkey and Trimmings

A workshop designed to build the home cook’s confidence in successful preparation and service of the heart of the traditional British Christmas meal – the turkey roast and trimmings. GH Triple-Tested Recipes: Turkey Breast with Sage Stuffing, Perfect Roast Potatoes, Sprouts with Chestnuts and Shallots, Classic Bread Sauce, Spiced Cranberry Sauce.

Continental Christmas

Learn how to prepare delicious Continental alternatives to the traditional Christmas menu, with these GH Triple-Tested Recipes: Pimm’s Salmon Gravadlax, Scandi Smorgasbord, Duck with Port and Figs, Snowy Yule Log. 

Gifts from the Kitchen

Learn how to make personalised edible gifts and stocking fillers in this fun and creative workshop.

GH Triple-Tested Recipes: Nutty Chocolate Truffles, Golden Mulling Syrup, Cranberry and Pear Chutney and Crumbly Cheese Biscuits.

Courses will be hosted in the innovative GHI and once each class is finished, guests can enjoy the fruits of their labour dining in the Institute, or take it home to enjoy with friends or family. Guests will also receive a comprehensive pack containing the recipes learnt during the class.

Coming soon and alongside the cookery courses, the team of GHI chefs will run a number of good-housekeeping-institute-cookery-school-mediterranean-red-peppersthemed demonstrations once a week in the GHI Demo Kitchen. A tutor will cook the recipes and explain the techniques in front of the group, who after observing will have the benefit of tasting the results. All attendees will take home recipes learnt during the demonstration course at the end of their session.
