images-2-1Hidden in the heart of Santa Monica on top of shopping mall sits something you would not expect, a beautiful restaurant with a stunning roof terrace and lovely views all over Santa Monica. As you step into the pretty building you are welcomed by beautiful tall ceilings and an open bar area. Outside the view is equally pleasing to the eye, the roof terrace is lit up with pretty decorative and the lovely sea air flows gently through the air.

We decided to sit inside the restaurant, the ceiling is crowned with a beautiful chandelier made of green wine bottles and is so visually exciting it is hard not to keep starring at it. The high walls give the room a wonderful feeling of space and the décor is very innovative, with green bottles cleverly covering the walls lights. Happy chatter fills the air and the atmosphere is buzzing. Keeping with the wine theme, one of the walls is made of wine, with a glass front and every type of wine you could possibly desire inside. The walls are also adorned with very cool wine artwork, the character artwork is not only a joy to look at, many of the paintings have a personal meaning making them both fun and sentimental.

The dirty martini was too tempting not to try, the vodka was infused with olive oil and the tasty blue cheese had been hand stuffed into the olives. This one of a kind cocktail was an interesting, refreshing twist on a classic dirty martini and the added sherry gave the drink a welcome hint of sweetness.

Our waiter was very friendly, nothing was too much for him and he helped make our night that little bit more special. We began with the Petaluma salad and that was just the start of the amazing culinary delights we were about to taste that evening. The beautiful taste of fresh salad, crunchy sweet walnuts, buck wheat and apple proved to be both moreish and divine. While the beet salad shared a refreshing mix of beets, avocado, goat cheese, candied citrus and a welcome mint garnish.

All of the food is very well presented, it is clear the chef gave a lot of thought to each and every dish, ensuring they were pleasing to the eyes and tastebuds alike. Looking round the room a luxurious velvet curtain turns the impressive open dining room, into a private space for the perfect soirée. The dining room has a relaxed feel, perfect for a romantic dinner or spending time with friends and allows you to enjoy your delicious experience at your leisure.

The amazing dishes did not stop there, the garden pizza shared the tantalizing taste of truffle oil, ricotta, mozzarella and fresh mushroom, which creates a party in your mouth. It is no wonder this pizza is their signature dish. Our lovely waiter surprised us with a tangerine sorbet, this was perfectly timed to cleanse our pallet and tempt us with more of wonderful delicacies Sonoma Wine Garden has to offer. For my main I enjoyed perfectly browned scallops and a stunning parsnip purée.

Flourless chocolate cake with vanilla gelato ended out meal, the texture was amazing and the taste out of this world. Sonoma Wine Garden certainly knows how to combine fresh and tasty food to ensure your dining experience is divine.
