DRINK – New summer cocktail menu at Pennethorne’s Bar at Somerset House

We have tried the cocktails for you at Pennethorne’s Bar at Somerset House.


The Somerset Tipple:

  • 25 ml Galliano Vanilla
  • 25 ml Passoa
  • 10 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 25 ml passion fruit syrup
  • 35 ml pineapple juice

How to make it:

Combine all ingredients in Boston mixer, shake well and double strain into a coupe glass, garnish with an edible flower.

The Somerset Tipple is a delicate, sweet cocktail and you don’t really taste the alcohol. I really enjoyed it because I love fruity cocktails, but be careful not to have too many, as you might forget you’re drinking an alcoholic beverage!


The Strand:

  • 50 ml Johnny Walker Black
  • 15 ml homemade honey syrup
  • 15 ml cassis
  • 3 dashes of walnut bitters
  • Top up with ginger ale


How to make it:

Combine all ingredients except ginger ale in a Boston mixer, shake well, strain into a rocks glass with ice and top up with Ginger ale, garnish with an orange twist.

The Strand is stronger because of the whisky. I am not a big fan of whisky but this cocktail was different. It’s less sweet than the first one but the honey and the cassis hide the often overpowering taste of the whisky.


The Pennethorne’s bar is an amazing place to go if you want to have a nice, cozy moment with your friend inside or outside on the terrace.
