LONDON EVENTS – Six Super Sips launching at The Epicurean London
The Epicurean is fast becoming THE place for the artisan beer, wine and spirits exhibitors to launch their new products. Visitors to the event will be the first to try a selection of new and innovative drinks, that can only be created by these small producers:
· Port: Quinta da Boeira is launching its Reserve Tawny Port made from the highest quality grapes from the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley in Portugal. It has a youthful fruitiness with added layers of complexity which is delicious with all types of cheese or extra special with Christmas pudding
· Wine: Carmelita Malbec 2013 has a complex, fruity and spicy nose with aromas of dark cherries, blueberries and hints of black pepper and is produced in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, in high altitude, fertile soil with a cool, dry climate. This medium bodied Malbec has round tannins and a smooth oaky finish
· Cider: Sxollie Packham Pear Cider is a 4.5% medium dry perry that has a creaminess and fullness along with a honey, almost caramel, profile. This cider has a sophistication that lends itself to pairing with mild cheeses and grilled fish. It is made from 100% Packham Pears from Elgin in the Western Cape of South Africa. SXOLLIE (pronounced sko-llie) is the African term used for a roguish friend and translates to a hustler
· Mixers: A new and truly innovative range of mixers is being launched by INDI&Co, and includes tonic water, lemon tonic, strawberry tonic and ginger beer. With the rise in popularity of premium spirits, these mixers are handcrafted with botanicals from around the world for the best quality drink
· Mead: Peckham based, Gosnells London Mead will be launching its Christmas gift set with two new flavours; Gosnells Mulled Mead(spiced with cinnamon, cloves, star anise, nutmeg, juniper and Szechuan pepper) and Gosnells Citra-sea Mead (a blend of honeys fermented with lemon peel, tarragon and a Citra led hop blend and before bottling it is blended with sea water for a tantalising, salty sweet flavour)
· Ale: This prosecco style, sparkling blonde beer is made from the Vermentino grape grown in the Pietra vineyard on the Lazio coast in Italy. Bifuel is not a blend between a wine and a beer but the two musts are fermented together to give a beer that enters the mouth like a Prosecco and finishes with a beery bitterness … now there’s something to tantalize the taste buds
