LONDON EATERIES – CHRISTMAS – Ping Pong Launches A Kitsch Chinese Christmas

Celebrate the party season with a fun, festive twist and #SaxySanta

Not everyone is gearing up to get traditional this year so why not break the rules and celebrate Christmas with a twist at Ping Pong. London’s favourite contemporary dim sum restaurant is bringing a unique festive feast to the capital’s tables this year with a Chinese style Kitschmas celebration. Available until 31st December at each of London’s nine restaurants, located in the city’s key shopping centers, Ping Pong’s Kitschmas Menu offers the perfect pit-stop when Christmas-shopping and makes for a fun alternative for sharing a festive feast with friends.

Expect a menu inspired by classic British Christmas favourites but with a playful Chinese twist; introducing Ping Pong’s Roast Venison Puff lightly topped with sesame seeds, the enticing Lobster and Prawn Dumpling and the melt-in-your-mouth Chicken and Foie Gras Dumpling. Also taking center stage is the quintessentially festive Brussels Sprout Spring Rolls, all of which are perfectly accompanied by the Hunters Tea cocktail, Ping Pong’s twist on a hot, buttered rum.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with Ping Pong’s tempting Coconut or Caramel Mochi, a soft rice pastry ball with either delicious coconut or salted caramel ice-cream filling, and the heavenly Chocolate Fondant Pudding.

Ping Pong has not forgotten that Christmas is all about giving, so guests can round off their meal with festive fortune cookies filled with giveaways offering free cocktails, complimentary meals for two – or if you’re really lucky, a traditionally bad Christmas joke. Whether Christmas lunching with friends, dining on a seasonal date or stepping in for festive-feeling cocktails, Kitschmas at Ping Pong offers something for everyone to celebrate in style.

On the subject of celebrating… Taking center-stage as the life and soul of the Ping Pong party is (perhaps surprisingly) …Santa.

The team behind the successful restaurant group has worked intensely to find the best and quirkiest traditions that are followed in China, and exported them straight from the mainland to London. In China, Santa is seen as the symbolic hero of the holiday (as it is a non-religious state), most famously depicted playing a saxophone or trumpet.

Bringing the festival feeling to all nine Ping Pongs across London, not only will you see the #SaxySanta in all the restaurants décor, but if you visit Ping Pong between 14th and 16th December you can catch a real life saxophone-playing Santa, entertaining diners live with jazzy Christmas carols in Ping Pong South Bank and Ping Pong Covent Garden!

Party season is set at Ping Pong with the Party Parcels (£26.95) menu, featuring delicious dishes and rich vegetarian plates. And for the most stylish of festive feasts, let Ping Pong lavish you and your loved ones with their Festive Delights (£34.95) menu.

No matter the size and scale of your pre-booked Christmas meal, Ping Pong has an option for everyone. For a contemporary twist on Christmas lunch, opt to book Ping Pong’s Festive Selection (£13.75) menu, while those in the Christmas spirit of sharing will revel in Ping Pong’s Sparkling Bites (£19.95) menu; both with excellent vegetarian options.

1.     The Christmas holiday is all about going out and spending time with friends rather than family. Awkward family Christmas parties successfully avoided!

2.     Christmas day is celebrated by going to the movies, shopping or singing your heart out at a karaoke bar… With just 6 weekends to Christmas, you better start practicing your version of Livin’ on a Prayer!

3.     Christmas in China is considered to be one of the most romantic days of the year, and is often spent with one’s love interest

4.     In China, Santa has upgraded his elves to ‘sisters’ – attractive women who help him with his Christmas gifting

5.     Santa is often depicted playing the saxophone. Why? Who knows? But we love it! #SaxySanta

Going the extra mile to arrange little extras for its festive revellers this year, Ping Pong has everything you need to get your festive season started in style, be it a meal in the private dining room, cocktail or Dim Sum masterclasses, booking your favourite DJ or treating you to a couple of complimentary drinks. Gan Bei!
