HEALTH – FREE Yoga Nidra at Marshall Street Leisure Centre
Marshall Street Leisure Centre, operated by Everyone Active on behalf of Westminster City Council, is offering free Yoga Nidra classes to all corporate workers in the local area. The free classes will take place on Mondays from 12:00 – 13:00, allowing local workers to enjoy the benefits of sleep meditation on their lunchbreak.
The Yoga Nidra classes are a brand-new addition to the timetable. Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, effectively the deepest state you can enter without being asleep. The class involves minimal movement, focusing on stillness of the body and mind. Just one hour of Yoga Nidra can be as restorative as four hours of regular sleep. Studies have shown that this practice can decrease insomnia and anxiety, alleviate stress and transform negative habits, behaviours and ways of thinking.
