ESCAPE LONDON – Feel like a Princess at Wotton House Hotel, a hidden Surrey gem
From the moment you set eyes on Wotton House in Dorking, you know you know it isn’t a sight you will ever forget! This beautiful manor house dates back to the 16th Century when it was sold to the Evelyn family. Whilst the house has had different uses throughout the years, the Evelyn family have been passionate about the beautiful gardens whilst adding their own eccentricities to the estate. Not so long ago, you may have even discovered Kangaroos on the lawn!

This four-star luxury hotel is nestled in 13 acres of Surrey countryside which was elegantly transformed to encapsulate stunning original features in 2017 with a 21st-century touch. It isn’t just the beautiful building with ornate features of that manor that are pleasing to the eye, the view of the Grade II listed garden is too! Guest comfort is key with cute little touches like welly boots provided to walk around the stunning grounds.
We stayed in one of the luxury junior suites which can be accessed via the 17th Century staircase. The suites are sizeable and the oversized king bed is big enough for four! The bed was decorated with pretty scatter cushions and dressed with super soft high-count sheets. They state their junior suites are lavish accommodation at its best and we certainly agree.

The suites feature elegant furnishings such as sumptuous chesterfield sofas, writing desks, vintage phones, mini-fridges, Roberts Radios and relaxing armchairs. Bathrooms can feature roll-top baths, deluge showers and double vanity sinks. The luxurious room is wonderfully decorated with old-fashioned suitcases adorning the wardrobes, gold framing on the art and plenty of places to relax and chairs with foot stalls to put your legs up. The large windows provide lots of light and wonderful views of the 17th-century Italian gardens.
The roll-top bath is deep enough to enjoy a lovely bubble bath and both the shower, as well as the bath are big enough for two. They also provide fluffy gowns, slippers, plenty of luxurious toiletries and lovely fluffy towels, perfect for a romantic trip.
There is plenty of choice at the hotel restaurant where the service is excellent, we recommend their welcome take on the traditional Welsh Rarebit, which has been dressed with crab. Breakfast is buffet style with hot food, plenty of fruit, lovely smoothies and more.

You can certainly make beautiful memories in this outstanding hotel which oozes class and allows you to feel like a Prince or Princess. Whilst Wotton House is perfect for a romantic weekend, it is also family-friendly too with the pool available from 9-5 pm on weekends for children. For adults, there is also a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
