ESCAPE LONDON VISIT AMERICA : THE LONDON WEST HOLLYWOOD – “FROM HOME TO HOME IN THE SUN”

I have always liked London but I love THE LONDON Hotel in Los Angeles. The London brings all the class and elegance of Victorian England to California but with one huge improvement – the sun, which we all know is a  rarity in gloomy ol’ blighty.  What more could one ask for than boxwood hedges, Victorian wrought iron lamp-posts and a good old full English brekky?

Located just off the vibrant and famous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, I walked into The London to be greeted by the resident British Bulldog, jolly old Winston.

The vibe is definitely English which is just lovely.

The views are smashing with gorgeous sunsets and silhouetted palm trees.

The London prides itself on having 226 spacious suites and mine was no exception. Ladies, they say they do everything big in the US and these bathrooms are no exception. I swam around in the over-sized tub,

bellowed out Rule Britannia in the double sized walk-in shower, all the while sipping on British gin.

The full English breakfast did not fail to impress. As a jolly Brit, even the queen would have been proud that, in Los Angeles, they serve “proper” bacon, eggs, good old bangers, mushrooms, roasted tomato and baked beans, possibly even Heinz. 🙂 To keep the Americans happy, there is also a wedge of hash browns. The huge range of toasts were sliced in to the appropriate British thickness to compliment a true proper brekky.

And after all that, there was enough space for a delicately light, Belgian waffle with fresh berries.

For those not wanting to pile on the pounds, the Scottish salmon, smoked to perfection,  included fresh tomato, thin, rolled, slices of cucumber, capers and cream cheese and scrambled eggs, which were full of delicate taste without sitting heavy, early in the morning.  The Keurig coffee was an enjoyable black,  at the perfect temperature.

I must say The London quite out did themselves with the in-room snack bar and drinks. We had a myriad of offerings including olive snacks, English toffee,  outrageously yummy truffle crisps, dark honey mustard pretzels, jelly babies,  M&M’s, chocolate almonds,  clandestine caramel pop corn. I think they got the memo that you can take the Brit out of the pub but you can’t take the pub out of the Brit.  In true British style, the bar in the suite included a bottle of Patron, a bottle of Maker’s Mark, a bottle of Sapphire black label and a bottle of Mulholland vodka.

After a day of walking around the neighborhood seeing all the sights, we trotted off to the infamous Boxwood Restaurant and bar. We had a traditional Pimm’s and lemonade and a dinner of steak au poivre. A must have is the most tasty, massive crispy onion rings and decadent chocolate pud.

The London definitely has everything under one roof;  a rooftop pool with spacious sundeck, private cabanas,

with 360 degree of stunning, panoramic views from their roof top lounge.

It’s dog friendly, has hairstyling, nail, and makeup services at Alex Roldan Salon and in-suite services are available too.

For Oscar screenings they have a brand new 110-seat state-of-the-art screening room.

The ‘Extras’ I enjoyed were excellent and prompt room service, complimentary calls to London (0207 & 0208 area codes only), a fun British bulldog window decal, ear plugs, emergency torch in the bedside cabinet, room service 24/7 and the cutest mini bulldog toy offer for younger guests.

If you don’t find what you need at The London, you are just walking distance from museums, restaurants, shops and clubs.  So you can stop scrolling and book in at The London.
