images-2With so many bars and restaurants in London, it is often very difficult to decipher which you should take the time to visit and which will be a waste of time if you do. I was lucky enough to visit The Fable Bar and Restaurant recently and let me tell you now…this is definitely in the ‘must visit’ section.

The Fable Bar and Restaurant is situated in the heart of London, just a few minutes walk from Chancery Lane station. It is inspired by fantasy and influences from around the world. It’s home to a wine shop and florist called ‘Bottles & Blooms’ and a library with leather bound story books, along with a group dining area in the restaurant encased by books. It’s perfect for lazy weekend brunches, afternoon tea, cocktails and informal bites to eat.

As I entered the beautiful bar, I was already very impressed at how busy the place was on a Wednesday evening! Luckily enough the venue is very big, with 3 floors – all with different themes – to hold a great deal of people without feeling like it’s ‘too packed’. On arrival we were greeted by lovely waitress Anna, who welcomed us with a smile and directed us to our seats.

We began our visit with some cocktails, I decided on the ‘Princess Sparkles’…which tastes as delicious as it sounds! It was a blend of blackberry, elderflower, peach bitters and vanilla sugar charged with Prosecco. It was delightfully sweet yet very light, a rather refreshing cocktail that was priced at a very reasonable £7.95. The Cocktails menu also pointed out that this tasty drink was only 120 calories, so all you healthy eaters can enjoy a tasty drink without feeling the guilt of ‘cheating’. My companion decided to go for the Honey and Spice cocktail priced at £9.95. This drink was a mix of Jonnie Walker, London honey, cinnamon and fresh apple; a deliciously sweet and powerful drink that leaves you wanting more.

To our delight, the starter came out fairly quickly after ordering. My companion and I shared a portobello road flatbread, with portobello mushrooms, British brie, parma ham & truffle oil. When the beautifully colourful dish arrived, we were surprised at how big a portion it was…it didn’t actually fit on our starter plates! The bread alone was delicious; soft, fresh and baked to perfection and the toppings created a wonderful burst of flavours that contemplated this freshly made bread beautifully.

For our mains, we ordered the ‘Reef and Beef’; half a lobster, 4oz steak and chipped p325-the-fable-bar-1392383928otatoes priced at £17.95. This was presented fantastically and almost looked to good to eat…almost. I requested my steak medium rare, and upon receiving it in some areas it was a little tougher than I would have liked, however overall it was very lovely steak. The portion was of a good size and I thoroughly enjoyed the dish.

For desert I had the ‘Waghon Wheel’ which was recommended by the waitress. This included toasted meringue, raspberry sorbet, shortbread, priced very reasonably at £5.95. This declicious desert is a fan favourite amongst customers for it’s pleasantly sweet taste and interesting look. The entire desert is made fresh by the chef’s and this was noticeable with the array of flavours you could taste with each spoonful.

Overall I very much enjoyed my visit to The Fable; we were waited on by the lovely Anna who was very attentive, friendly and personable. I was pleasantly surprised at how well she knew the menu and was able to recommend a variety of dishes based on our preferences. The venue is stunning and the food pleasant. I have already recommended this lovely bar and restaurant to my friends and family and cannot wait to return.

If you are looking for a chilled, pleasant evening out with friends for some beautiful cocktails and a nice meal at a reasonable price, this is definitely your place to go! You wont leave disappointed!
