On Wednesday 17 June, Cardinal Place, Victoria, will be transformed into a West End stage as stars from award-winning musicals take over the roof garden. This annual free event invites anyone who lives, works or shops locally to reclaim their lunch break and treat themselves to some midweek musical magic!
Stars from Billy Elliot and Wicked, both based at theatres a stone’s throw from Cardinal Place, will take to the stage, as will performers from nearby newcomer to London’s theatre scene, St James Theatre – all underpinning Victoria’s credentials as one of the capital’s most thriving theatrical hubs.
Hosted by entertainment presenter Lisa Vickery, this year’s event will also welcome the stars of hit musicals Jersey Boys and Matilda for the first time.
The event is a preview for the eleventh West End LIVE with MasterCard which takes place in Trafalgar Square on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June. Organised by Westminster City Council and Official London Theatre – and sponsored by the people who brought you Cardinal Place, Land Securities – West End LIVE features free performances from many of the capital’s most famous musical shows.
To help you make the most of the exclusive preview event, the Cardinal Place roof garden will be home to a number of artisan market stalls providing tasty lunchtime treats. The foodie line up so far includes Ebby’s Kitchen, a husband and wife team selling delicious kofte and grilled halloumi wraps – with many more stars from London’s ever-popular Shepherds Markets to be announced soon. POPS champagne ice popsicles and Premium alcoholic ice tea from Harry Brompton’s will also be available throughout the performances, plus anyone who comes along will be given the chance to enter a special competition to win a pair of tickets to see Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
