LONDON EATERIES – Romantic dining and outstanding food aboard the R.S Hispaniola
The R.S Hispaniola restaurant and bar is situated on London’s beautiful Thames river, just minutes walk from the Embankment tube station. Walking on the jetty you can see the lovely boat offers both dining or drinking, when we arrived the sun was out in full bloom when we arrived and happy drinkers sat on top of the boat enjoying the view.

As you enter the boat you feel the gentle rocking under your feet, it takes a minute to get used to, but after sitting for a moment you don’t even notice it as all your attention is drawn to the stunning view outside the window. Beyond the screen lay some of London’s most well known landmarks, Westminster Bridge, Big Ben and the London Eye. The rocking adds to the relaxed atmosphere and the boat oozes romance.

The moment we entered the wonderful staff greeted us with a smile and that smile did not leave them throughout our delightful dining experience. The decor is as you might expect is very nautical, with lime green wooden walls and dark black tables. The R.S Hispaniola is perfect to visit after a hard days work and for those who enjoy well cooked, delicious food.

The bar tender created his own cocktail, the Mayfair lady, a fresh and citrus drink that drifts down smoothly. The lychee, grapefruit, vodka and egg white prove to be the perfect combo.
The bruschetta shared a welcome adornment of rocket, tomatoes and fresh buffalo mozzarella. The crisp bread is perfectly toasted and the tomatoes fresh. Your tatsebuds are tickled with the combination and the balsamic dressing adds to the well balanced flavour.
The heritage tomato carpaccio, pesto, balsamic, rocket, gazpacho ‘shot’ and crostini proved to be a exquisite selection of tasty tomatoes with crispy brochette slices, a well presented touch on an almost Italian style starter. An added bonus was the delightful after shot of gazpacho, with a definitive kick of spices.
My guest enjoyed for the main, the chicken breast, sweet potato rosti, asparagus, mushroom and calvados sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was mouth watering.
The asparagus risotto is outstanding. The rice is smooth and beautiful flakes of parmesan lay on this amazing dish, while the slightly browned asparagus crowned this tasty dish. The food presentation is excellent and is it clear that this wonderful establishment understand food excellence well.
The R.S Hispaniola bar and restaurant is the perfect eaterie for Londoners and visitors alike, the food is simply divine, the service excellent and the view outstanding. Enjoy an evening of romance, or dinner with friends on board a lovely ship and leave with a big smile.
