Kings Cross used to be an area that you didn’t want to be at past 8, but over the years it has morphed in to a cool place and is on par with funky Shoreditch. The station train station looks stunning and is bustling any time of the day or night, hidden in a beautiful square is Drake and Morgan.

The bar is open and the staff friendly, but it is the restaurant that really catches your eye. You feel as you have been transported to Manhattan, in to a warehouse style venue and a place you can’t wait to experience. The décor is chic and industrial, concrete and glass entwined with warm colours, drop lighting and can only be described at the epitome of cool! If you feel like sitting outside they provide blankets and even hot water bottles, so you can enjoy the winter air, without freezing. The venue is spacious and large, plenty of room to pop along for an office party or even a birthday, with friends or colleagues in tow.

As soon we stepped inside, we were greeted by one of the knowledgeable staff who informed they try everything on the menu. Arriving hungry, we began with some succulent green olives and a tipple. My guest and took a little longer than usual to order, but our patient water gave us as much time as we needed to chose the delicacies we desired.

I began with the tuna and although it was advertised as rare, the chef was happy to cook it to my taste and it arrived perfectly well done. The tuna had a spicy kick and almost melted in my mouth, I think my guest had a little food envy when she tried the succulent pieces. She ordered the crab cakes, that were lacking a little meat and a touch too sugary for our taste, but delightful all the same.

The pièce de résistance was the amazing sea bass, which arrived as my main, I am trying to lose a few pounds before Christmas and loved the fact there were plenty of healthy options to choose from at Drake and Morgan. The broccoli that accompanied the amazing fish was scattered with sliced almonds and were perfectly paired with the sea bass. We ended with the mouth watering coconut sorbet, which was drizzled in fresh passion fruit and crowing freshly grilled pineapple.

The atmosphere in Drake and Morgan is electric, you can’t help but get excited for the night ahead of you and you won’t be disappointed when you do. The surroundings are eye catching, the food delicious and the service, nothing short of excellent. Drake and Morgan is perfect for a night out with friends or dinner with that special someone, either way make sure you pay it a visit and enjoy the delights this cool new restaurant have to offer!
