THE BLACK PENNY LAUNCHES ‘NIGHT SHRINE’
THE COVENT GARDEN COFFEE HOUSE INAUGURAL NIGHT MARKET 3RD DECEMBER 2015
This festive season The Black Penny (www.theblackpenny.co.uk), a modern coffee house located on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden, is launching Night Shrine, London’s coolest alternative Christmas market.
Launching on 3rd December 2015 from 7pm till midnight, the night market will see a host of independent designers and start-up brands taking over the two-storey building along with DJs, an in-house clairvoyant, cocktails and food.
The perfect pre-Christmas shopping event for those on the hunt for a unique present, vintage find or party dress, Night Shrine will showcase the works of ten individual businesses across fashion, accessories, homeware, art and crafts.
The line-up includes a selection of artists and illustrators, including works by story-telling painter George Morton Clark, handcrafted wooden goods from Grain & Knot, science-based designs from Cindy Strobach and a selection of illustration and craft works from Sussex twins, Liv & Dom.
Fashion offerings come in the shape of unique clothing from stylist Hope Von Joel and Stephen Jones Millinery as well as vintage pieces from Exclamation Vintage. There will also be hand-crafted homeware from Okka Found and hand-forged knives from Peckham makers Blenheim Forge. Great Queen Street neighbours Bloomsbury Flowers will be creating bespoke floral arrangements and festive wreaths.
Head Chef George Notley has created a menu of warming dishes to keep shoppers fuelled up, include Kale, Sweet Potato & White Bean Soup, Savoury Stuffed Mochi with Bitter Greens and Tartiflette with Bacon, Cheese & Fresh Herbs. A selection of The Black Penny sweet treats will also be on offer, alongside a specially curated cocktail menu for the event.
The inaugural event will pave the way for further Night Shine markets to be hosted quarterly by The Black Penny.
