ECSAPE LONDON – Royal Harbour Hotel to host second vegan pop up

Following its popular vegan pop up event held over the summer, the Empire Room restaurant, located in Ramsgate’s award-winning Royal Harbour Hotel, is to host a vegan weekend on the 6^th and 7^thJanuary. 

Guest vegan chefs and food bloggers Alexandra and Caroline Cadell will prepare the meat free (and largely fat free) feasts.  Apart from being renowned for their vegan cookery, the pair are top food bloggers and founded ‘Food For Life, Italy’.

The evenings begin at 6:30pm with a welcoming glass of prosecco. The sisters will then give a short introduction to veganism and will mix with diners during the meal, answering questions and giving cooking tips.

For starters, there is a choice of Bruschetta which offers intense Italian flavours with crispy ciabatta or a traditional Italian Ribollita, a hearty Tuscan warming soup perfect for cold January evenings.

The mains are a Potato and Chick Pea Chaat, combining vibrant Indian ingredients and hot and sour spices; a Chilli Sans Carne – a fat-free perennial favourite; or a pasta dish featuring smoked aubergine with a Mediterranean sauce.

The evening concludes with a winter Fruit Crumble or Torta Zucchini. The three course meal costs £20.

“Our initial vegan pop up proved so popular, we have decided to revisit the format while our regular chef, Craig Mather, takes a well earned rest after what promises to be a busy festive period,” said hotel owner James, who added, “A number of our regular omnivorous customers also mentioned undertaking a meat-free detox regime in January – so this is an ideal opportunity to repeat the offering.”

Over the holiday period, Michelin-trained chef Craig will be offering special gourmet menus on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
