BABIES – Enjoy a great nights sleep for you and your baby

There are so many sleep training videos out there, including ‘get your baby to sleep through the night at 12 weeks’.  I was sure when I was pregnant that my baby would be sleeping through the night in 12 weeks or sooner, how wrong was I? It really isn’t as easy as it seems, especially if you are breastfeeding. Although, there are some things you can do to help the situation.

  1. Feed them late before they go to bed
  2. If you wish, give them formula – it helps them sleep a bit longer
  3. Make sure their nappy is dry
  4. Ensure they have a safe and comfortable place to sleep

For the latter I have personally tried and tested these wonderful cribs, both with excellent results.

Chicco’s side-sleeping crib: Chicco Next2Me Dream

From the moment I took my bundle of joy home, I couldn’t help but check his breathing every few hours at night. I know I am not alone in this, as it is something every parent seems to do. Having the baby close, but not in the bed, gave me a lot of reassurance – enabling us both to have a better night’s sleep. This is where Chicco’s side sleeping crib steps in; one of the sides easily zips down so your baby is in his own crib, but easily in reach and right next to you. The bottom of the bed attaches to your bed and the height can be easily changed to be exactly right for your bed.  This easy-to-use cot can be taken with you on your travels and comes with a travel bag, so you can have peace of mind wherever you are. This beautiful crib is only 8 kg and it fit easily into my small Ford KA.

Here are some benefits to side sleeping:

  • It helps the new born to adjust sleeping-awake times.
  • It helps with breastfeeding for mothers.
  • It reassures parents and makes the child feel safe.
  • It strengthens the bond between child and parents and it helps the child to grow more self-confident and sociable.
  • Sleeping in the same room (but not in the same bed) reduces the risk of SIDS.

This crib is simple, stylish and also comes on wheels! So you can move it easily from room to room, you can also keep the side up, perfect for day sleeps and for working mums who want their baby close. Unlike many travel cribs, the mattress is soft and it is easily washable and it can be adjusted up to 11 different heights and it can also be used inclined to help with baby’s congestion and reflux.
