ESCAPE LONDON AND VISIT AMERICA – Palm Springs must see ‘Hotel California’

Love love love! this hotel. Based around the hacienda style design, and only being a few blocks from the main strip, it is easy to see why this hotel has won Trip Advisor awards year after year.

The warmest, most friendly and most bubbly lady called Betty (who really should have a second career as a comedienne) greeted us to introduce us to the hotel. On check-in we were offered wine or water, a nice touch, while Betty informed us of many local services including the free local bus shuttle and local tourist information.

One of the unique features of Hotel California was their communal kitchen. So if you are on a budget, or simply don’t fancy eating out every single lunch and dinner time, you can enjoy the free fruit, water, coffee, store your food in the fridge, use the kitchen and cook to your heart’s content over the communal BBQ enjoying the beautiful and peaceful courtyard.

If you want to splurge, treat yourself to their most lovely 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom suite that sports a full kitchen and its own BBQ in the private backyard area.

As you may have gathered from my other reviews, I’m a bit of fan of good bathroom toiletries. I can’t say I was disappointed here at Hotel California either. They were plentiful, beautifully scented and easy to get out of the bottle!

Moving on to the pool area, Hotel California had cooling pool misters, free sunscreen, quality pool towels, floaties (lilos for us Brits), and enough shade to keep you partially out of the sun.

After returning from a busy evening on the strip, I was stunned by the beauty of this hotel at night. Perfectly placed, evening lighting transformed the hotel into a romantic paradise. Their luscious greenery, their soft jazz music playing in the background, the romantic ambiance and comfortable seating around the firepit, will just put you in the holiday mood immediately.

Clearly Hotel California cares about upkeeping the hotel, its cleanliness and sincerely cares about its guest having a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Hotel California is the quintessential true boutique hotel.

Their restaurant recommendations certainly match their hotel style : Cheekies for a hearty breakfast, Tropical restaurant for themed evening, for a traditional Mexican where you can be serenaded by the local Mariachi bank, you must head to Marisol and for more upscale, old school dining, where you feel Frank Sinatra or Marilyn Monroe could appear at any moment, head to Spencers.

This is definitely a ‘must see’ hotel. I can’t wait to meet bubbly Betty again!
