40 IS THE NEW 30 – Reduce fine lines and wrinkles with a little botox from Dr. David Jack
Everyone has heard about botox and it would be my guess that a high percentage of people over thirty have tried it, but exactly what is it and what can it achieve? Dr. David Jack describes the process here;
How does Botox work?
Botox works by relaxing the facial musculature which causes the wrinkles that occur in the face as a result of the ageing process.
How is it administered?
Botox is injected directly into and around the muscles in the face. The wrinkles as then dissipated and over time the skin looks more youthful and smooth.
Is it safe to have Botox?
Botox is nothing new and has actually been used in facial aesthetics for over 20 years. It is a safe technique that is also very effective with minimal side effects. Some patients experience minor bruising in the areas where injections have been given but this is easily treated with arnica gel which Dr. Jack recommends to his patients. Bruising only lasts a few days and otherwise there are few side effects.
Where on the face can Botox help?
The usual areas to be treated with Botox include- the frown lines between the eyes, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet. Botox can also help improve other areas of the face and neck.
What can I expect when having Botox?
Typically the technique of administering Botox involves giving 5-8 small injections per area chosen to be treated. Most patients experience some small level of discomfort but it is brief and the overall treatment time is usually around 10-15 minutes making it great to fit in around your life.
Dr. Jack treats all his patients personally, providing them with a consultation and discussing their desired results and personal expectations and needs.
How long will Botox last?
Contrary to popular belief, the effects of Botox are not actually immediate and it usually takes between 3-7 days for effects to set in, and the maximum effect should be most noticeable around 14 days after the treatment.
Botox usually lasts between 3 and 6 months, after this period Dr. Jack recommends the treatment should then be repeated to continue the effects. Patients do find that with repeat treatments the effects last longer, meaning less Botox treatments are needed over time.

Before and after results from Dr. David Jack
I met Dr. Jack to discuss having some Botox to reduce my obvious lines, we talked for a while and were on the same page about the end look of any treatments to be natural. After he agreed that he could do the treatment, he popped on some numbing cream and took me to his treatment room. He was very gentle and is open for you to come back two weeks later for a top up, if you think you need it. I actually didn’t and was pleased with the results. He is conveniently situated right in Harley Street, in the West End of London and we at Heart London Magazine fully recommend him. What do you think of the results?
