This lovely knitted memento is a replica of the original knitted Sailor, which remains a popular exhibit at National Museum of the Royal Navy’s HMS Gallery in Portsmouth.
Made by Submariner Ernest ‘Gus’ Britton in the 40’s, the original Ernie was inspired by his father who served on HMS Caroline in the Battle of Jutland.
