ESCAPE LONDON, VISIT AMERICA – HEAD TO HEAVENLY HYATT CENTRIC HOTEL, PORTLAND, OREGON

They say it’s the little things that count. I couldn’t agree more. My stay at the Hyatt Centric Portland reflects that in every thoughtful aspect of the unique design of this hotel.  From the view of the beautiful view of the church from the 15th floor castle style window,

to the locally inspired wall art

and custom-made furniture, to the  daily Qr code clipped up outside each room; a wonderfully unique idea from the GM Erik, which  links to  daily events and local attractions. Oh and see if you can spot the fun little Portlandia birds throughout the hotel too!

Hidden Portlandia Birds Surprise Guests by Popping Up throughout the Hotel

The room and style of the hotel did the impossible and combined the modern, industrial chic with retro record players

and warm modern, smoothly elegant wooden furniture and colorful accent pieces,  giving your ideal warm vibe.

It’s very evident, that even though Hyatt is a corporate chain, they have absolutely blended in with the local, caring, community spirit by supporting the use of natural materials such as marble, wood, metals and glass. This comforting eclectic mix  was very…. jolly!

While in Portland, the community spirit is definitely the theme of the city. You can see this in the  wall hangings, fun, knitted, fun character chickens, and murals throughout the hotel, all from local artists.

A thoughtful touch in the rooms were the  custom, designer rechargeable, portable lanterns are offered to guests to take outside on their evening walks.

But if you decide to stay inside, wrapping up in the extra luxurious robes was enough to make one not want to leave.

I also appreciated a quiet night’s sleep as every wall and ceiling is soundproofed. So you can ‘rest’ assured (pun intended) that no clattering of children’s feet, dogs barking or early risers will ever disturb your sleep.

Other luxuries include 100% silent air conditioning, subtle, LED lighting, a lit makeup mirror and a motion censored,  under-bed night lights,  in the bathrooms and also in the closets, where I discovered a most beautiful, custom designed, stamped metal wall decoration.

Their open plan bar /lounge area is interestingly playful. It included a youthful,  retro design with unique foot stools and an interactive entertainment wall.

Again, the comfort and style of this Hyatt definitely in lovingly unique.

To tantalize your taste buds, you can try the tasty COVET PDX,

the 24 hour MARKET or mosey up to the bar for an adult bevvy.

Located centrally in downtown Portland, you have easy access and walking distance to many local tasty eateries. Other hotel amenities include being dog friendly,

car valet, hotel gym, pool, spa, business meeting spaces for events and even weddings in the Elysian Ballroom, all with customized catering.

The Hyatt Centric is also partnered with near by Knot Springs pool and spa and can assist with reservations.

The friendly staff go out of their way to help, accommodate and make great local tourist suggestions including the ‘waterfall tour’ and the tastiest local Ramen noodle spot.

One last top tip is ask Erik about visiting the infamous Multnomah Whiskey Library next door. He may whisper in someone’s ear and get you in, ahead of the 6 month waiting list. It’s a definite unique “must see”, eat and drink!
