During Covid, they took their time to re-invent their menu and not only is each dish mind-blowingly good they look like a piece of art. They cater to everyone, with menus designed for carnivores, pescatarians and vegans too! We plumped for the pescatarian tasting menu with paired wines which was a real treat! Each wine has been carefully selected to pair well with each dish and each sip was divine. It felt like we were enjoying a celebratory meal! Come hungry, as the portions are generous and the food so delicious you want to savour and finish every bite! They also have an extensive selection of cocktails and some with an Indian twist, such as the Indian Essence Negroni.

Our pescatarian tasting menu began with the Amuse-Bouche which is beetroot based and has a lovely kick, the perfect way to start off a magnificent meal!

The Aloo Kachalu Chaat, a Ratte of Sweet Potato Chaat is paired with a delicious Signature Prosecco. This dish is beautifully crunchy, with a welcome mint sauce and tasty pomegranate bites.

Every dish seems even tastier than the one before and we absolutely loved the Samudri Khazana, which pairs Tandoori Lime King Prawn with Mustard Stonebass and a divine Mango wine, from the Rhythm Winery in India. The wine wasn’t too sweet and was bursting with flavour.

To prepare your pallet a lemon sorbet is served and what followed had our tastebuds dancing. Tangra Chilli Prawns paired with Sancerre Rose and Meen Malabar, Southern Spiced Monkfish, served with delicious Pak Choi, a tasty Malabar Sauce, Lemon Rice and Garlic Naan. This dish is paired with an Organic Wildsong Pinot Noir. Desert was the Chocolate Delicacy crowned with a delicious marang.

Usually, with paired tasting menus, full glasses of wine are not served. At Indian Essence the glasses are full and plentiful! This is Indian bespoke cuisine at its best, it really feels like every dish was created just for you.
