LUXURY LIFESTYLE USA : DINE OUT – IN STYLE AT THE CAPITAL GRILLE, ORLANDO, FLORIDA

It’s just lovely when you step into a restaurant and immediately feel a sense of luxury. At the Capital Grille Restaurant on Convoy Road in Orlando, Florida in the States, the plush, warm vibrant, red decor led you to private booths. The inviting music quietly enveloped me while sipping on my cocktail in the classically styled, friendly bar.

I then moved outside for a very pleasant, spacious, covered al fresco dining experience. With a delightful nighttime view of Florida palm trees, the sound of a nearby trickling waterfall and the smooth jazz music started off a lovely evening.

If you are a fan of custom cocktails then you don’t want to miss the Capital Grille’s unique and scrumptious “Stoli Doli”. Their Stoli vodka is infused in house with pineapple for 10 days. It’s definitely worth a sip, or two!

Stoli Doli aka Yummy!

I would definitely come hungry and start with the outrageously tasty bread basket; dig in to the warm onion bread, lavish, fresh sesame roll and unsalted butter. The rare pumpernickel bread is hearty, dense, and decadent and offset with a crusty exterior.

As my first appetizer, I was offered the traditional calamari which was perfectly seasoned and just crispy enough, with a complimentary bite of hot cherry peppers.

I can definitely recommend the slightly-seared, prosciutto-wrapped, warmed mozzarella bites which came with vine ripe tomatoes and a very flavorful Parmesan-encrusted French bruschetta. Add to that, the fresh basil leaves and you have created a mouthful of intense flavors. The sweet balsamic glaze finished off the smorgasbord of favors that can tantalize your taste buds.

Moving on the to perfectly pink filet mignon. Having a penchant for au poivre sauce, of which I have tried many on my worldly travels, I am always keen to try another recipe and … the jury is in.  I think I found the best so far! The Orlando Convoy Road Capital Grille chef had the ingenious idea to add freshly ground, pepper flakes at the last minute, which gave it a slight, but unique crunch.

I was very appreciative of the chef’s expertise in handling the perfect blend of varying textures, as we delved into the thick, creamy slices of potato-au-gratin which were topped perfectly with complimentary savory crispy onion.  Also on the menu was a traditional creamed spinach with bechamel sauce and a light, buttery sea bass that was cooked to perfection.

In keeping with the tropicale Florida theme, I opted for the coconut cream pie which didn’t fail to impress having a very smooth, light and airy “coconutty” cream filling, sitting atop of a a delightfully chewy biscotti base.

Creme brulee cheesecake was a first for me but definitely won’t be a last. I melted the freshness of the fresh raspberries, blueberries and blackberries into the creme brule custard. But if you fancy more of a chocolate-themed, decadent dessert then the Capital Grille offers a flowerless, coffee chocolate cake with a perfect, fresh mint leaf.

Both Anthony the GM and Angelina our waitress were both very friendly, informative and welcoming, and we certainly hope for another such warm welcome in the near future.
