LONDON EVENTS – Get your run on at the Vitality Run Hackney Half Marathon

Vitality_Run_Hackney_Half_Marathon2014-1325The Vitality Run Hackney Half Marathon will suit runners of all abilities. So far 35% of entrants have chosen it as their first half marathon recognising it’s a flat, friendly course for novice runners.  Meanwhile, more experienced and elite runners will be looking for a PB.

The Vitality Run Hackney Half Marathon shows off the very best of the borough’s beautiful green spaces. Starting and finishing at Hackney Marshes, the closed-roads course will once again pass by some of Hackney’s best kept parks and key landmarks, including the world-famous Hackney Empire as well as a new and improved route through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever. Not only are runners in for a great atmosphere, they can expect huge local support, a free technical t-shirt, live entertainment on course as well as in the race village, plentiful water stations and a sparkly new medal for 2015.

The concept for the event was created by Councillor Jonathan McShane, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care & Culture at Hackney Council. He said: “We’re thrilled to be holding the second Vitality Run Hackney Half Marathon. Ever since 2014’s race, residents have been telling me how much they enjoyed having a half marathon on their doorstep; whether they ran or took to the streets to watch, there was a real buzz about the borough, and I hope this year’s event will be even better. I’ve certainly been training hard and will be aiming to beat my 2014 time!”
