LONDON BARS – Two-Bit – US Craft beer and gaming that’s cotton picking good!
There’s an undoubted thirst for Craft beer that has swept through the capital over the last few years. Where Prosecco has replaced Pinot Grigio in the hearts of the capital’s females, Craft beer seems to have done the same with larger. It’s the beer for the discerning young man these days, well that’s unfair – I’ve been known to sip on a East End brewed tipple or two on a summers eve… The difference between Two Bit and any other London hipster Craft Beer drinking hole is that Two Bit serves American craft beer which is a unique revelation in a city where every spare railway arch is fast becoming a brewery…. and despite my initial hesitations US beer is daaaaaamn good!
Two Bit sits neatly underneath Brew Dog on the apex of the ultra trendsetting Redchurch St and Bethnal Green Road and Brick Lane – the epicentre of Shoreditch cool. For those not so in the know – Brew Dog is a UK Craft beer producer with a great reputation amongst connoisseur and thus Two Bit is a perfect complement to its UK Cousin. Like going from Bognor to Boston in one flight (of stairs)!
Two Bit prides itself on having access to beers that won’t be seen anywhere else in the capital. Its also a haven of old school gaming with pin ball machines and video games perfect to keep the man In your life occupied! In fact the whole place could operate like a man crèche – somewhere to drop off the dudes whilst you happily cocktail away on the rooftop with your friends! It’s a man Mecca!
We tried a beer flight which ranged from quite light beers to really strong heavy stout tasting affairs all served by 2 breezy bar chicks who’s knowledge of the beer behind their bar was second to none. The variations in the beer was as different as going from sparking brut champagne to a heavy full bodied red wine – and certainly awakened our appreciation to the vast character of craft beers.
Two Bit is definitely a place to take guys if you want to impress them or the more adventurous females in your life. It has a laid back dive bar vibe that’s so often missing from the bars around the East End and is very, very low key and cool. They have daily specials which unfortunately we didn’t try but it’s basically got everything to satisfy. Give it a go you never know you may find yourself a new US craft beer aficionado before you can say Uncle Sam!
