ESCAPE LONDON AND VISIT AMERICA – SAY “BONJOUR” TO LA MAISON HOTEL – PALM SPRINGS
For those of you wishing that you were on the sunny, French Riviera during those cold winter months, you will be “enchante” to discover La Maison (‘Home’) in Palm Springs, California where the sun shines year round.
La Maison hotel was a just wonderful treat to review. It is a little corner of peaceful, provencial paradise. Run by Cornelia and Larry, who are two of the most gracious hosts you will meet, your ‘vacances’ in this French style hotel will easy and relaxing. Without a lengthy check in procedure, they simply hand you the key, show you your room and say ‘enjoy’.
Entering the hotel through a heavy, wooden, rustic French gate, you immediately leave the stresses and strains of the world behind when you hear the gentle trickling of water from the courtyard fountain.
Surrounded by beautiful plants, sweetly-scented flowers and carefully placed seating areas, you will laze watching the sun set, enjoying the excellent, complimentary wine and apperatifs served each evening.
What really makes this petit heavenly haven so authentically French is the attention to detail; the beautifully carved, French, wooden, four poster beds, the matching antique wooden nightstands and wardrobes, the cool, terracotta French country floor tiles, the rafters created to replicate the feel of a French winery, right down to the fleur de lys bathmat and the deliciously scented L’Occitane toiletries.
For a romantic getaway (no children under 14 years old allowed), the blissful and serene ambiance will make you want to extend your stay.
Every morning a fresh, complimentary continental breakfast is laid out, with not only the obligatory croissant and café au lait but also, on special occasions, Cornelia will bake fresh, lavender patisseries. Your hosts Cornelia and Larry are happy to accommodate any personal food preferences and have a lovely, warm and subtle management style.
All the rooms are upgraded with modern facilities, with each room having its own style of decor. You will not be disappointed in this paradise. In fact you will be surprised at how reasonable their rates are compared to other local boutique hotels.
Even though the hotel is small, it is laid out to perfection, so you will never feel crowded. There are only fourteen rooms, all of which, overlook the sparkling, cool, deep, blue swimming pool.
If you want to pamper yourself even further, the hotel will recommend local salons for facials, massages, manicure and pedicures, and local eateries. For more information contact Cornelia and Larry at +1-760-325-1301.
This is a ‘must stay’ if you visit Palm Springs, located just two hours inland of Los Angeles. All you need now is Gerard Depardieu or Marion Cottiard sat next to you to complete the scene.
