ESCAPE LONDON – Enjoy delicious food and a memorable stay at the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dublin
As you drive into the grounds of this stunning hotel you are met with a picturesque sight, a perfect lawn surrounded by lush green trees and the pretty blue walls of the Fitzpatrick Castle.
The receptionists are very helpful, taking the time to explain where everything is in this grand hotel. They also offer a swimming pool and fitness centre for those who love to stay fit.
The castle has been in the same family for 45 years and they have handpicked the furniture in each room to enhance the castle feel. Our large suite was filled with Georgian furniture, an open fireplace and a grand bed with a stunning silver headboard. The bed was very comfortable allowing you to enjoy a lovely nights sleep and wake up refreshed. To ensure your comfort fluffy white dressing gowns and slippers are also provided, as well as locally produced and generously sized toiletries.
As you step out on the balcony your eyes can feast on the beautiful bay and plentiful oak trees. A perfect view to end a perfect day.
The Mapas Restaurant is situated in the basement and feels as if you have stepped into a swanky city eatery. The decor is inviting with mood lighting and deep blue walls. The food and service are absolutely outstanding from start to finish, certainly a meal you will remember well after you have taken your last bite. Our waitress Sonja was such a delight, bubbly, helpful and a lot of fun.
I began with the Artichoke and Avocado Salad which boasts succulent artichoke crowning beautifully fresh salad leaves and tasty avocado. The portions are generous so come hungry when you visit this wonderful restaurant.
For fish lovers, you have to try the Pan Fried Hake served with Root Vegetable Chowder on a bed of Crab Risotto. The hake falls onto your fork, with a marinade of flavours and a beautiful crab sauce to pour over your dish. Hats off to the chef for this one as it is an absolutely outstanding dish.
On to dessert and the delicious Raspberry and White Chocolate Brulee Cheesecake was even better thank it sounds, it melts in your mouth and bursts with flavour. This dish is paired with freshly made ice cream.
If you are in Dublin be sure you visit the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel. You will feel like royalty as you are treated with amazing food, excellent service, pretty scenery and a comfortable bed to sleep if. What more could you ask for?
